Chevrolet Tops 1,200 Reservation Nationwide During Thailand’s Motor Expo ‘09

Date: 16-12-09

- Captiva is the most Popular Spot at the Fair

Bangkok – By the draw of the curtains on Thailand’s Motor Expo 2009, Chevrolet has swept nearly 1,200 pre-sale reservations, with the Chevrolet Captiva securing 350 requests from prospective buyers. The Chevrolet AVEO secured 314 reservations for the 1.6-and 1.4-litre models. Simultaneously, Chevrolet’s CNG offerings such as the Optra CNG, the Optra Estate CNG and the Colorado CNG, also returned a satisfactory sales volume, totaling 526 units altogether. With these figures, Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) Company Limited has achieved expected results from the Motor Expo.

In terms of percentage of total reservations, the Captiva captured 38% followed by Chevrolet Optra, Optra CNG, Optra Estate and Optra Estate CNG which contributed 24%. Both versions of the Aveo (1.4 and 1.6 – the latter just launched in conjunction with the Motor Expo) managed to secure a combined total of 26% while the Colorado captured 12%.

Mr. Antonio Zara, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and After-sales Service of Chevrolet Sales Thailand, said, “Chevrolet is delighted with the good response and the confidence that we continue to receive from our customers. The volume of reservations for the Chevrolet Captiva SUV and the newly-launched Chevrolet AVEO 1.6 represents consumers’ confidence toward our products which continue to gain in popularity. Despite being launched a few years ago, the Chevrolet Captiva is still one of the most well-liked SUV and continues to receive good responses from customers.”

“Our market-pioneering CNG models also secured a pleasant sales volume of 44% in total. As a result of the increase in petrol prices and the instability of the economy, people are now looking for more choices in alternative energy for lower costs and to save the use of energy resources,” Zara added.

During the course of the motor expo, reservation figures from Chevrolet’s network across the nation is divided into 41% for the Colorado, 27% for the AVEO, 18% for the Optra family including Chevrolet Optra, Optra CNG, Optra Estate and Optra Estate CNG, and 14% from the Captiva.

The Chevrolet display also had the added honour of receiving H.E. Suthep Tueksuban, Deputy Prime Minister, who visited the booth and participated in a photo session with the new 1.6-litre AVEO SS model. After presiding over the 26th Thailand International Motor Expo, H.E. Suthep Tueksuban was received by Mr. Kwanchai Prapatpong, President of Sue-Sakon Co., Ltd., as the Organizing President of the Motor Expo and Mr. Steve Carlisle, President of General Motors Southeast Asia Operations.
