Award-winning Chevrolet Artists meet Film and Photo Professionals

Date: 25-06-09

• Winning video artists witness Chevrolet TV shoot in Seville
• Winning photographer in Geneva for World Premiere of new Chevrolet Spark

Since 2007, Chevrolet has awarded the winners of its European YCC applied arts contest (Young? Creative? Chevrolet!) with a cash prize and the opportunity to experience professionals at work. Chevrolet believes that being at the heart of the action is the best way for students to develop their talents and prepare for their own professional careers.

European video award winners invited to Spain for a tv-spot shoot

2008 YCC Video winners were four students from the Ecole Emile Cohl, in Lyon, France: Nathalie Ragondet (21), Rémi Cans (22), Alexis de Jesus Costa (26) and Jérémie Fleury (21). Rémi and Alexis accepted Chevrolet’s invitation to Seville, Spain to witness the shooting of a TV advertisement for the Chevrolet Captiva. They experienced the different steps of a professional photo shoot from the initial brief to organizing the final sets. As an official sponsor to the Spanish national soccer team, Chevrolet Spain invited five football stars, including Fernando Torres, to participate in the shoot.

“The witness trip was really beneficial and fun, really glad I had the chance to come to Spain, observe, assist and discuss with real professionals.. and meet Fernando Torres!”, says Alexis Jesus de Costs, winner of the video discipline.

During the shoot Chevrolet’s Spanish Marketing Manager, Aurelio Suero shared his knowledge with the winners. The students also met with Film Director, Romulo Aguillaume.

“The trip was very well organized and the shoot day was highly instructive and interesting. It was great to get the chance to speak with the film director after the shooting and learn some more things from him.” says Rémi Cans, winner of the video discipline.

The TV-spot has been running on major TV channels in Spain since March 28.

Witness trip to Geneva Motor Show for the European photography award winner

Recently, the Young? Creative? Chevrolet! 2008 European photo award winner, Mark Kuipers (28) from the Fotoacademie based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, was invited to Geneva to experience the very first photo shoot of the Chevrolet Spark in Europe. Mark was invited to assist Dingo - well known automotive & people photographer and video maker. During the shoot the winning student had the opportunity to observe the work and learn from the experienced photographer. For the second day, Chevrolet also invited Mark to attend the Geneva Motor Show, where the production-ready Chevrolet Spark was shown for the first time.

“It is nice to be given an insight into how other professional photographers work; Dingo gave me tips and ideas which will be useful for my further career in photography”, says Mark Kuipers, winner of the photography discipline.

More witness trips for Young? Creative? Chevrolet! 2008 European visual art and fashion award winners

The visual arts award winner of the European competition, Adi Šumić from Academy of Design, Slovenia, was invited by Chevrolet to Imola, Italy for a weekend, to witness and appreciate the car bearing his winning design competing at the WTCC race driven by Alain Menu.

The European fashion award winners; Alexandra Jeller (23), Katharina Perkhofer (20) and Melanie Winkler (21), from Kunstuniversität Linz, Modeschule Hetzendorf, Austria were invited to come to Paris. They had the opportunity to meet with French stylist, Virginie Lescure, with whom they visited the renowned French "Prêt-à-porter" fashion week, one of the most important European fashion exhibitions. As a part of their prize, Chevrolet had organized for the dress created by the winning students to be worn by the hostesses at Chevrolet’s stand during the Geneva Motors Show 2009.
