I can remember since June 2, 1997, the first day that I walk into a small building (Temporary office) in Rayong when I was employed by GM Thailand. Only around 25 local employees with about 40 expatriates located in Rayong to start the plant. The challenge at the time was how to establish a team here in Thailand with the best talent and be the best team. Until now, nobody can believe that GM has grown to more than 3,000 local employees with less than 20 expatriates running the plant and many products in domestic and oversea markets.

From year to year, I have learned that GM is very focus on developing people in each country where GM has an operation. People keep saying that in GM, it’s OK for you to question the supervisor, say you don’t understand, disagree with an idea, present another idea, work long hours and have fun!, plus always work extra mile and challenge ourselves, more importantly, do the right thing for the company. These are the wonderful tools that I have really applied during my 8 years career with GM Thailand and they are also for all GM employees to be success in their career.

GM has provided me a great opportunity for oversea assignment in Shanghai, head-quarters for 3 years as Regional Human Resources Manager – Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. This is not just the oversea tasks but more like global, since GM is moving to the global concept. I have to work with many people from other regions around the world. I have lots of new things to learn from the global with the complex of the organization to be understood and applied.

More challenge on the assignment is managing my work life and my family side. New place, new people and new culture are things to work through. Concept of “Leaders are the people who believe that they can accomplish the impossible - and do it!” is really true. We need to be strong and believe on success.

It is still a long way for me to go for my career with GM. Do the best current and look for more challenges that would be my goal.

This kind of opportunity is not only for me but for everyone who have leader mind set. GM is always looking for both the company and employees’ success. With your contribution and being the leader, not too long distant for your career opportunity and be success with the company.
